English County Championships - Quarter Finals – U-140
Yorkshire Under-140 team was in action on Saturday 19/05/2018, against Surrey, at the roughly half-way Leicestershire market town of Ashby de la Zouch. The Under-180 team would have been playing but had a bye. The Open team and U-160 team played their quarter-final matches on 12/05/2018 - see here.
Surrey managed to field only 14 players, so the match was actually tied on the boards played.
Captain David Mills commented that it was a very tight match which Yorkshire appeared to be losing for much of the time; winning 4 of the last 5 games to finish was crucial.
Yorkshire will meet either Hampshire or Worcestershire in the semi-finals on 09/06/2018. [In turned out to be Worcestershire.]
