Yorkshire Open and Under-160 teams were in action on Saturday 12/05/2018. The Open team was playing against Essex at the Lincolnshire village of Syston, 3 miles north of Grantham. The U-160 team was playing against Hertfordshire in the village hall of the Leicestershire village of Shar nford, 4 miles SE of Hinckley.

The Yorkshire Open team was drawn largely from the southern end of the county. Despite the Essex line-up including one former Yorkshire Champion (who won), Yorkshire won the match comfortably, as follows:

Captain Rupert Jones recalls that after 12 games had finished, the score was level, with 4 wins apiece and 4 draws, or something similar, but, 3 wins for Yorkshire and one draw from the remaining four games left Yorkshire ahead on 9½-6½.
