Captain’s report:

Held alongside the under 180 grade fixture between the same counties, this under 100 grade match proved something of an adventure for those organising the Yorkshire team.  Our captain was unable to attend at short notice, leading to Peter Cloudsdale and David Mills volunteering to organise matters on the day.  Unfortunately, two members of the Yorkshire contingent failed to arrive (reasons not known) and our opponents were able to field what appeared on paper a stronger line-up.  Nevertheless, the possibility of an outright victory or a draw and superior board count was on the cards until the final game was completed.  The conclusion to be drawn is obvious.  In football you do not deserve to win if you do not score from penalty kicks. In chess you do not deserve to win if you default boards. A disappointing outcome but the overall performance was very encouraging.  My thanks to all involved and congratulations to our opponents.
