26/09/2017 “E. Yorkshire v. N. Lincolnshire” U-140 Match 11th November, 2017; Hull
With a Hull & DCA hat on, Yorkshire U-140 captain, David Mills, is organising an under 140 challenge match between Hull & DCA (in effect East Yorkshire) and Lincolnshire (whose team will be drawn primarily from North Lincolnshire). Thus the match might be loosely thought of as “East Yorkshire versus North Lincolnshire”. It is to take place of 11/11/2017, in Hull. The intension is to have 12 players per team, and to include as many juniors as possible.
David says the main aim is to promote chess links between players on both sides of the Humber. David himself is a member of the Appleby Frodingham Chess Club in Scunthorpe, as are two other players in Yorkshire leagues: Bill Egan (who was formerly resident in Sheffield, and is still playing for Sheffield team Ecclesall), and John Mainwaring (who plays in the Doncaster league).
Hull is to be captained by David, and Lincolnshire is to be captained by William Orr, the Lincolnshire U-140 team captain for Midland Counties Chess Union and E.C.F. fixtures.
