Preston Congress 2017
The 30th Preston Chess Congress was held at a new venue, the Cotton Court Business Centre, Cotton Court, Church Street, Preston, PR13BY, from 24th to 26th November, 2017
Preston is relatively convenient for those at the west end of the county, and as luck would have it Calderdale had a bye in the Woodhouse Cup that weekend. 5 Calderdale players participated, and 6 other players who might otherwise have been playing in their Yorkshire-league teams on the Saturday.
Tony Slinger of York was the only one to win a place prize. Yorkshire-connected players’ results were as follows:
