The British (Individual) Rapidplay 2017
was held on Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th November 2017, at a new venue, The Craiglands Hotel, Cowpasture Rd, Ilkley LS29 8RQ, with the land behind rising up to Ilkley Moor, The Tarn being 250 yards away, the Cow & Calf Rocks visible three-quarters of a mile further along the road, and numerous cup & ring-marked rocks dotted about the landscape.
There are actually more-interesting things to do in Ilkley than play chess, as Emanuel Lasker well knew. He had been in poor health in 1895, and spent most of July in the spa town of Ilkley in preparation for the 1895 international tournament in Hastings. While in Ilkley he gave a simultaneous display at the Spa Hydro (click for details).
Back in 2017, the British Rapidplay had Open, Major, Intermediate and Minor sections run over the two days, the first two being FIDE-rated. There was an England under-11 trial on Saturday, and the main Junior (under-16) event was held on Sunday.

The England under-11 trial was won jointly by Arnav Trivedi (Linton) and Daniel Chen (Ashby), each with 4˝ points out of 5.
