York Junior Chess Day, 07/10/2017

The above event was held at Archbishop Junior School, York. 50 children attended from all over Yorkshire.
The popular event was opened by the Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Barbara Boyce.

Lateefah Messam-Sparkes from London, a full-time chess professional, and IM Andrew Ledger from Sheffield were the 2 guest ECF‑accredited coaches.
A good game was shown initially to highlight how to develop in the opening. This was followed by a 4-round Swiss competition, in 3 sections depending on ability. Between play, general advice was given, and problem solving was shown.
