Links to this Website on Member Counties’ and ECF Websites

The NCCU AGM asked that the acting Secretary try to ensure that all counties’ websites had a link to the NCCU website.

Possible links are either http://www.nccu.org.uk/ or https://mannchess.org.uk/NCCU.htm.

A survey of what’s out there yielded the following results.  Cleveland, Lancashire and Northumberland delegates have been asked to see if they can address the matter of their websites not linking to this website.

Cleveland Chess Association

http://www.clevelandchessassociation.co.uk/

No NCCU link is evident, but the NCCU could be added to their “Links” page.

Lancashire Chess Association

https://www.lancashirechess.uk/

Website is (or was) in the process of being rebuilt.  As yet not external links are evident anywhere, but maybe an NCCU link will materialise in due course!?

Northumberland Chess Association

https://www.northumberlandchess.com/

No NCCU link.  However, on the “About” page is a list of links to club websites and the ECF website, so maybe the NCCU could be added here.

Cheshire & North Wales Chess Association

No website evident, so presumably nowhere exists to put a suitable link.

No website

Manchester Chess Federation

Was https://www.manchesterchess.com/ but currently still off line.

(There is an NCCU link on Heywood club website.)

No website

Merseyside Chess Association

Was https://merseysidechess.org.uk/ but this is currently off line.

No website

Cumbria Chess Association

http://cumbriachess.com/

There is a link on their “Links” page.

Okay

Durham County Chess Association

https://dcca.org.uk/

There is a link, though the “External Links” page is hidden inside “About”.

Okay

Yorkshire Chess Association

https://yorkshirechess.com/

The official YCA website has no links external to Yorkshire.  However, Yorkshire has another website to look at –

Yorkshire Chess News

https://mannchess.org.uk/YCA.htm

which is where most Yorkshire players would look for such things and has the NCCU on its “Other Websites” page.

Okay

Finding contact details and website addresses of organisations on the ECF website was mentioned at the AGM as a problem.  In particular, searching for “NCCU” (or for that matter “SCCU”) on the ECF website does not find the required information, which is for the simple reason that it is not there!  It’s on the ECF Resources website which is a different website.  The NCCU President asked that the acting Secretary ask that a link to the NCCU site be added to the “More useful links” list on the ECF home page.  The acting secretary mentioned that request to the ECF webmaster, acknowledging that that was not the point of that list, and suggesting as alternatives either moving the “Contacts” page from the Resources website to the main one (because the rest of the Resources Website is essentially archival whereas “Contacts” is current), or else adding “Organisation Contacts” to the “More useful links” list on the ECF home page.  The ECF webmaster kindly implemented this latter plan.

So, you can now access contact/website information about organisations from the ECF home page by clicking on “More useful links” and selecting from the drop-list “Organisation Contacts”:

The previous route, still possible, was to click on “About Us” (a questionable label behind which to put such things) then make your mouse cursor hover over “Resources” at the bottom of the drop-list, then slide across to, and click on, “ECF Resource Website”:

Both routes take you to the following where the NCCU is the fifth listed Constituent Unit.
