Cumbria v Greater Manchester, Under-1850
The third match to be played in the Under-1850 section
of the NCCU County Championships was played on Saturday the 20th of January
at the Bridge Club, 3/5 Chapel Street, Lancaster, LA1 1NZ. Cumbria
lost two players at the last minute and found only one replacement, so
started a point down.
Whilst Cumbria had a slight edge rating-wise on the top
2 boards, Greater Manchester outrated Cumbria to a greater or lesser extent
on the other boards so that GM seemed likely to win, as indeed they did,
the match score being Cumbria 4-8 Gr. Manchester as shown on this
