KES Chess A Team 1968-1971

Correspondence Chess One of the more off-beat team activities embarked on by KES was the inter-school team correspondence chess competition run by Chess Ltd, Sutton Coldfield.  Each team member played just one game as I recall.  That means pairings must have been on the Jamboree system with each member of a given team playing against a different opposing team. On board 1, I (Steve Mann), played and beat Brian Valentine who is now in overall charge of the ECF rating system. KES must have won, as I recall receiving a small grey appropriately engraved metal medal. (More info may later be gleaned from Chess Magazine of the period if/when I get access to copies, and Brian Valentine has been e-mailed for the name of his school which I once remembered but now do not.)
