16/03/2020 Yorkshire League Suspended Due to Coronavirus Following discussions between the YCA President, Jim Burnett, and various YCA officers,
the YCA league has been indefinitely suspended, with immediate effect.
The situation will be kept under review, but it unlikely it will be possible to complete the current season’s schedule. There is also the possibility that the AGM with no be held at the constitutionally required date in June.
This follows on from the same decision being taken on Friday by the Sheffield & District Chess Association, which was soon followed by suspension of the Doncaster League. Suspension of the Lincolnshire League was being discussed by e-mail over the weekend, and Nottinghamshire League Management Committee was due to have a meeting by Skype on Sunday to consider similar action, and it has been announced that
the Nottingham Congress of 21st-22nd March has been cancelled. (“Arrangements will be made to refund entry fees to all competitors as soon as possible.”)
