This follows on from the same decision being taken on Friday by the Sheffield & District Chess Association, which was soon followed by suspension of the Doncaster League. Suspension of the Lincolnshire League was being discussed by e-mail over the weekend, and Nottinghamshire League Management Committee was due to have a meeting by Skype on Sunday to consider similar action, and it has been announced that

the Nottingham Congress of 21st-22nd March has been cancelled.

In view of the current Coronavirus situation, the YCA is suspending the Yorkshire League fixtures with effect from the 15th of March. This is in line with the ECF recommendation of a suspension period of three weeks. This decision will be kept under review but it seems unlikely that this season's fixtures will be completed. Composition of next season's league will be decided at the AGM, however please note it may not be possible to hold the AGM at the required time in June.
