Holmfirth Pod League Still Going

The 10.00 p.m. curfew has now kicked in, necessitating some adjustment.  Steve Westmoreland reports on play on 07/10/2020:

We are still running.  Tonight's game was a 3 vs 3, with 3 additional players (including me) in and out during the games for the social night.  One chap came to the club for the first time in seven months.  John was greeted with smiles and hellos.  There are a number of players depending on the Club to keep themselves in a fit mental state.

Holmfirth won but we are just glad to be playing.  I suspect the Government will swing back in shortly and we will need to be inventive to continue OTB play.

Note that I took the pictures, wearing a mask (see reflection in 1st photo!).  This week Belgrave (Halifax) beat David Browns (Honley), as well as Holmfirth defeating Huddersfield.  The results do not count, we are just enjoying the play.  Plenty of positive comments about the random board order as well.  When we get through COVID (depending on how many clubs are left), I think we may keep this format.

Time control has now reduced to one hour on each clock (max two hours) due to curfew.  I also removed the requirement to write down moves to a) support slowcoaches and b) minimise touch risk.
