English Primary Schools’ Chess Association

Girls’ U-11 Team Championship

Yorkshire entered an Under-11 team in this girl’s event run by the English Primary Schools Association (EPSCA).  The one-day event was held at Grace Academy, Solihull, Birmingham, on Saturday 23rd March 2019.  16 counties took part in a 3‑round jamboree.  Top placings were as follows:

Yorkshire had a young inexperienced team, and 2 wins were recorded by Sai Chinnayee Kumar from Skipton and Natasha Pointon from Thirsk.  Although Yorkshire were 16th, it was a valuable learning experience and a good team atmosphere prevailed.

Thanks to Bradley Triffitt from York who acted as a board steward.  Peter Cloudsdale and Noel Stewart from York acted as Team Managers.
