Scarborough Rapidplay 2026

To quote from the congress website, “In the 1920s a series of Chess festivals were held over the Whitsuntide week in Scarborough.  These attracted some of the leading players of the time including World Champions Alexander Alekhine and Vera Menchik.  To commemorate the centenary of these events the Scarborough Chess Club is hoping to hold a number of commemorative events.”

This rapidplay was held on Saturday 20th June 2026 in the Function Room on the First Floor of the Roscoe Rooms, Roscoe Street, Scarborough, YO12 7BY.  There was an Open section and an Under-1700 section.

Advertised prizes were

Open          : 1st Prize £100, 2nd Prize £50

Under 1700: 1st £100, 2nd Prize £50

and other prizes including Grading Prizes will be awarded based on the number of entries.

Entry Fee was £15.00.

Round-by-round game results and final placings are based on results on the ECF rating website.  Unfortunately, and the method of extraction does not pick up players’ colours expressed by icons rather than letters (W or B).
