The 1st Cheadle FIDE Open was held from 4th to 6th of February 2025 at the Village Hotel, Cheadle Road, Cheadle, Greater Manchester, SK8 1HW. On this occasion it incorporated the NCCU Individual Championship and the NCCU Senior (60 or over) Championship for 2025. With the Individual Championship goes the right, if desired, to be the NCCU’s nominee for the British Championships being run from 31st July to 10th August 2025 in Liverpool. If that option is declined then the potential nomination can be passed down to another person. If the NCCU nominee actually participates in the British Championship, then the NCCU will refund to them their entry fee in accordance with the NCCU rules.

Mike Surtees is the new NCCU Individual and Senior Champion, which “double” is evidently a “first”! He wishes to take up the associated NCCU nomination for the British Championship.

It is also hoped to add some games playable on-screen in due course.
