This was originally to be run as a 4-team single round Jamboree, with each team having 4 opponents from each of the other 3 teams, making 12 in total (hence board pairings like A1 v B1, C1 v D1, B2 v C2, D2 v A2, A3 v C3, B3 v D3, C4 v A4, D4 v B4, etc as per the Hutton pairing system), but Merseyside withdrew a few days before the event leaving just Greater Manchester, Northumberland and Yorkshire competing, requiring the 3-team Hutton pairing table instead. The venue was Bradford.

Greater Manchester came out on top, with Yorkshire second and Northumberland third. Northumberland had already declared they did not wish to progress to the ECF County Championships, so Greater Manchester becomes 1st NCCU nominee for the ECF Open Championship with Yorkshire being 2nd nominee. At the ECF stage, a Union’s first nominee can get a slightly easier route, initially playing another Union’s 2nd nominee (or getting a bye) while the 2nd nominee is likely to get paired against another Union’s 1st nominee.
