The North East / Tyne & Wear 2024 EJCOA Youth Championship Zonal was held on Sunday 02/02024 at Tyneside Irish Centre, 44 Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4SG. There were aged-based sections for those Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20 as at 1st January 2024. (On Chess-results.com the date was given as 01/06/2024, though the EJCOA website and event flyer said 02/06/2024.)

Being on the periphery of England, the event drew primarily local entrants whereas relatively more centralised zonals have attracted a few “roving” entrants. In then events, all age categories were merged into on Swiss event with 14 participants, the round-by-round results being as follows. A curious feature was that of the 35 games none ended in a draw!
