Yorkshire League - Proposed Structure for 2022-23

(revised 13/06/2022 to reflect latest info)

Competitions Controller Andrew Zigmond has reviewed the results from 2021-22, with reference also to those of 2019-20 as regards which divisions those teams which dropped out for 2021-22 were in.  In this latter respect, Sheffield B has expressed a preference not to be admitted back into the Woodhouse Cup.  What Andrew has come up with is the following, which is intended in effect as a starting point for discussion; some, for instance, might see it preferable to have only 10 teams in the Woodhouse for 2022-23.

I am now in a position to share the proposed league structure for next season.  Italics denote a promoted team while bold represents a team that has returned to the league structure after a year's absence (or a new team in one case).  All these teams have been placed in the division they most recently entered except where they have requested otherwise.  I have tried to avoid relegating teams this season.

CAPITALS ARE NOW USED FOR EMPHASIS - THE FINAL DECISION FOR THE LEAGUE STRUCTURE AND FORMAT BELONGS TO THE AGM.  I AM MERELY SETTING UP A PROPOSAL THAT CAN BE ACCEPTED OR AMENDED AS THE AGM WISHES.  THE ONE RESTRICTION ON THE AGM IS THAT THEY CANNOT DENY RELEGATION TO AN EXISTING TEAM.

WOODHOUSE CUP (11 teams)

Bradford A, Calderdale A, Harrogate A, Huddersfield, Hull DCA A, Leeds, Rose Forgrove A, Sheffield A, Wakefield, York A, York B

IM BROWN (9 teams)

Alwoodley A, Alwoodley B, Calderdale B, Harrogate B, Hull DCA B, Ilkley DragonsRose Forgrove BSheffield B, York C

SILVER ROOK (6 teams)

Bradford B, Harrogate C, Holmfirth, Settle, West Leeds, York D

[Italics denote promotions.  Bold denotes re-entrant or wholly new teams.]

Doncaster have been unable to re-enter this season.

The next piece of work for myself is to draw up a working calendar of fixture dates although I can't guarantee this will be available prior to the AGM (this is due to being able to obtain information from third parties, notably the 4NCL and therefore out of my control).
