Here presented
Lancashire as a Manchester player in the period 1884 to 1890. He
played for Manchester against Bradford in 1901. He represented
Cheshire from 1905. He played the following matches representing
Lancashire: 1884
Lancashire v Yorkshire, 1887
Yorkshire v Lancashire, 1889 Yorkshire v
Lancashire and 1890
Lancashire v Yorkshire. He played the following matches
representing Cheshire 1905
Yorkshire v Cheshire and 1908 Cheshire v Yorkshire.
He was Cheshire Champion in 1906 at least.
|
Note:
|
He appears
usually not to have used his first name, “Alfred”, which
nevertheless appears in his baptism register entry and marriage register
entry (which he himself signed “Alfred Rhodes Marriott”), thus
he was usually merely “Rhodes Marriott” or “R.
Marriott”, though since that was his father’s name he was sometimes
referred with the appended epithet “junior” or
“jun.”.
