NCCU County Team Championship
First Round
1) Yorkshire v Durham & Northumberland
In this match played over 20 boards at the Gambit Café, Leeds, on 24/01/1931, Yorkshire met a combined Durham-cum-Northumberland team which was represented by 10 players from each constituent county. At close of play the score stood at 7½-7½, with 5 games for adjudication. Details of the adjudication results are not to hand, but the final result was a win to the combined NE Counties, reportedly by 7 games to 5, meaning presumably 11-9 including draws.
Yorkshire had Black on the odd-numbered boards

Meanwhile Lancashire beat Cheshire.
Final

Roses Match
If Yorkshire and Lancashire were not to meet in the NCCU knock-out team championship, then the two still met in what was merely a “Roses” match.
Accordingly, Yorkshire met Lancashire at the Gambit Café, Leeds, on 07/03/1931. (Details to follow; Yorkshire Post, 09/03/1931, p.3.)
