The Chess Players Chronicle, volume VI, 1882, page 519, carried a report on this match, but lacked initials for most of the players, whose full names, nevertheless, can be inferred in the majority cases.
Play commenced at about 3.30, continuing, albeit with a break for tea, through to 9.30 p.m. Two games were played where there was time. On only one board was only one game played. Players’ total score was shown, thus there was no clear distinction between on the one hand a win a-piece, and on the other hand two draws.
