Hi everyone,
Just a quick
reminder that the Sheffield league's annual 'Hope Valley' blitz 5-minute
competition this year will be at the Sheffield Chess Centre (329A Coleford
Road, S9 5NF) on Monday June 16th. Please try to
arrive at around 7pm, and we'll aim to start at 7.30pm once we have entries
in (obviously, if everyone turns up at 7.29 to enter, it will be rather
difficult to start at 7.30...).
This is open to
anyone who lives in the Sheffield area, or who plays for a team in the
Sheffield league, or for one of the Sheffield teams in the Yorkshire
league.
Reminder that the
format of this event is traditionally somewhat unusual. We
play 7 rounds as a Swiss, after which the top 4 players qualify for the
semi-finals. The final four then play a knockout. (If knockout games are drawn and it starts getting
late, we reserve the right to have a Armageddon
game for replays)
£5 entry, pay on
the day.
I'd appreciate it if
any local club secretaries receiving this email could share with their
members.
Best wishes,
Jonathan
