Andrew Ledger in sole lead after
first 5 of 9 rounds
“proper” British Championship is taking place at the moment in Hull. The
entry is nowhere near as strong as in normal times, for a variety of reasons.
The Championship features three Yorkshire players, one of whom is Sheffield’s
Andrew Ledger. The fortunes of the three Yorkshire players are being
covered by the present writer on the Yorkshire Chess Association website,
but this mention is being made on the Sheffield site as in round 5, Andrew
Ledger (“only” an IM) beat GM Mark Hebden and in so doing has moved into
the sole lead.
