Nine people attended the meeting which was thus inquorate. Thus, decisions are technically subject to ratification (or not) at the next quorate Council meeting, though of course, decisions of inquorate meeting have usually been unalterably implemented by the time of the next quorate meeting. Why are meetings inquorate? That’s partly due to some individuals holding multiple offices, but also to most counties attending sending only one delegate, not the prescribed two, and to some counties not attending at all.

Most items on the agenda where essentially items to note. The main outcome of the meeting was that John George, who had earlier come forward as a candidate for taking over as secretary, attended the meeting as one of two Yorkshire delegates (thus being able to vote), and the meeting agreed to John taking over as NCCU Secretary from that point on. The other “biggy” on the succession planning theme is the post of Treasurer.

The secretarial transfer is working well. Obviously, I’ll continue to receive e-mails addressed to me as secretary, four so far since the meeting, and these are being passed across with any appropriate explanation or comment, and John is taking them forward.
