Pennine Cup 2024-25 Arrangements

Inquires have been received, one yesterday (15th) and one today (16th), about the forthcoming Pennine Cup.  So, for anyone else who one way or another has not picked up on things, this season’s Pennine Cup is being run by Swinton Chess Club, more specifically Adam Scoular.  Entries and inquiries should be directed to Adam at swintonchessacademy1@gmail.com.

An e-mail sent out by Adam read as follows:

Dear All,

As you will be aware, Greater Manchester has agreed to take on the organisation, and therefore hosting, of this season's 2025 Pennine Cup.

The date of this year’s tournament is Sunday 23 February (11 am start) @ Fletcher Hall, Swinton, Greater Manchester (the same venue as last season).

We propose the following format for the tournament: 6-round swiss jamboree-style tournament, with 6 players per team.

The time control will be 25 mins plus a 5 second increment from move 1

Cost of entry per team is £25.  Players to bring their own lunches.  A bar will be available.

Players to be under 18 on 1 September 2024.

Team Entries by 31 January to swintonchessacademy1@gmail.com.

Player names and team order and DoBs for each team 2 weeks prior to the event (9 Feb) to same email address.

All players need to be ECF gold junior members.

Junior Organiser, Manchester Chess Federation
