49th Scarborough Congress

Once again, the Scarborough Congress was run with 6 sections, all ECF-rated with Open and Challengers also FIDE-rated:

The number of entrants listed on the website cited below, i.e. 474, was roughly 1% up on last year’s total of 445.

 

This year, internet coverage using AIDACHESS was introduced, replacing the formerly used Chess-Results.com.  This website is geared up to the latter and not the former.  From the point of view of this webmaster, one disadvantage of AIDACHESS is that although pairings for a round are given before the round and a list of cumulative points to date for each player is given after the round, there seems to be no list at the end of the round of board-by-board game results (A 1‑0 B; C ½‑½ D; E 0‑1 F etc).  Also, if you want to play through a game afterwards, you need to create an account supplying your name and e-mail address, which is not encountered on other sites like Chess-Results.com and 4NCL.

 

So, if during the event you want to follow progress, including on-line live coverage of games, then refer to https://www.aidachess.com/events/351402-scarborough-s-49th-congress.  Round 1 was to start at 7 p.m. on Friday 23rd.
