1890: Yorkshire v Sussex (correspondence) |

Over-the-board inter-county matches at this time were not regarded very feasible for counties as far apart as Yorkshire and Sussex, yet some counties were eager to play inter-county correspondence matches. This particular match was arranged between Isaac McIntyre Brown, for Yorkshire, and Henry William Butler, for Sussex. It seems Yorkshire had been in favour of more boards than Sussex, who preferred a smaller number.
Play started on 23/06/1890, and appears to have ended in December 1890.
