Wakefield v Bradford, Woodhouse Cup, 1886 |

Played on Saturday, 6th March 1886, at the Bull Hotel, Wakefield.
Wakefield had chosen to play over eleven boards. Play began at 4 p.m., continuing, with a brief adjournment, to 9.15 p.m. There seem to have been no adjudications. In the following table, the order of the games played at each board is not implied, not being discernible from the report.
* = captain
The above is as reported in an undated, unattributed newspaper cutting in WYCA Minute Book, apparently from the Bradford Observer. The Leeds Mercury of 13/03/1886 agreed with the above, but for having “Schofield” for “Scholefield”, and further mentioned that the game on board one doubled as their game in the second round of the Yorkshire County Chess Club tournament, as did those on board 6, though in the latter case the tie was still not resolved.
The Mercury gave a game on board 5, as follows: Wakefield v Bradford, Woodhouse Cup White: Scholefield, WR (Wakefield), Black: Schott, GA (Bradford), 06/03/1886 1. e4 c5 2. Bc4 e6 3. a4 Nc6 4.
