ECF Small Club of the Year to Holmfirth Chess Club

Steve Westmoreland’s labours in Holmfirth have borne fruit in the form of the 2022 ECF Small Club of the Year award.  Steve himself points out, “It is not [just] my labours but a complete team effort.  From Rob's fundraising, secretary work and junior coaching, Dave's captaincy, Andrew's coaching, Drew & Gaz junior coaching and me doing teams, advanced junior coaching and the pandemic organisation.  Odd for a chess club but we all have defined roles.”

He has been advised by the awards committee chairman, Stephen Greep, “I am pleased to inform you that Holmfirth have been awarded the ECF 2022 Small Club Award.  The Committee were very impressed with what the club has done.   .  .  .  .   The award has already been ratified by the ECF Board so you are free to announce it at the club (and throughout Yorkshire!!).   .  .  .  .   You will also be entitled to use the winner’s logo (attached).
