Rotherham Online Spring Cup Results

Doncaster players filled the top two places in the latest tournament played at the rate of 25 minutes, plus a 15 seconds per move increment.

Sean McDonald, the former Doncaster IM Brown top-board player, won in convincing style with five and a half points in the six-round competition.

McDonald's IM Brown captain Peter Catt came second with five points after the pair had drawn in the last round.

Three players were level on four and a half points with Deji Jeje, who plays for SASCA in the Sheffield League, finishing third on tie-break ahead of Barnsley's Martin Sheard and Chris Shephard (Sheffield Nomads).

Thirty players took part in the competition which has led to the organisers continuing the tournaments for the time being to meet the demand.

McDonald did not have to play top seed Chris Shephard who slipped up earlier in the competition but out-prepped fourth-placed Martin Sheard in the opening to win a key game in round four;
