Frederick Crosland Shepherd’s parents were Joseph Shepherd (born 1820/21, Leeds) and Rachel Shepherd (1819/20, Leeds) who had at least the following four children, all born in Leeds:
Entry 1309 in the baptism register of St. Peter’s, Leeds, recorded the baptism there on 16/11/1856, by Thos. J. Bowers, of Frederick Crosland Shepherd, son of Joseph Shepherd, cloth dresser, and Rachel Shepherd, of Templar Street, Leeds. The child’s date of birth was given as 22/02/1856.
The 1861 census found the parents and four children 3 Little Templar Street
