Henry Robinson was a cousin of William Ledgar Robinson of Wakefield (q.v.)  He worked his way up from cashier to manager at the bank on Wood Street, Wakefield.

Chess

He accompanied cousin William to the second meeting of the original Yorkshire Chess Association, in 1841.  Subsequently he attended the 1857 and 1862 meetings of the West Yorkshire Chess Association.  He was not as noticeable on the chess scene as was cousin William, but may have been more active in Wakefield chess that in Yorkshire chess.
