The peripatetic YCA Easter was held at Wakefield in 1952, from Sat 12/04/1952 to Tue 15/04/1952 at Youth House, Marygate, Wakefield. G W Moses was chief organiser at the event; he and A Schofield served as round-by-round controllers.
There were 6 sections, 5 for adults and 1 for juniors, with 6 rounds in each section.
There were 37 participants in the adult sections: 36 men and 1 lady. There were a further 7 participants in the junior section. The single lady participant was Mrs Jacoba Ives of Pontefract. Mostly on such occasions she was accompanied by husband Ronald Wilson Ives, but on this occasion he was at his workplace at a bank in Horbury.
Prize winners in the different sections were as follows:
* Recorded in one source as B R Edwards but is clearly Raymond Brunton Edwards then of Harrogate, born Edmonton 26/10/1937.
The prizes were presented by the Mayoress of Wakefield, accompanied by the Mayor, Councillor Ernest Edward Borkwood (who won the silver trophy for a marbles championship contested among West Riding Mayors and similar civic officials at Castleford in 1950 - proceeds from event to St Dunstan’s charity), whereupon the Mayoress was presented with a bouquet by Mrs Fanny Schofield.
