1915: H. E. Atkins Simultaneous Display in Huddersfield |

Robinson’s Café, John William Street, Huddersfield, Saturday, 25/09/1915
Henry Ernest Atkins, who had moved to Huddersfield to take up the post of principal at Huddersfield College in 1909, gave a simultaneous display in Huddersfield on 25/09/1915. It was the occasion of the re-opening of the club for the new season, under the presidency, for the year, of H.E. Atkins, who succeeded Thomas Rothery (brother of W U Rothery q.v.). One of those present was John Watkinson, who had been an active member of the club for 63 years.
H E Atkins, as president, entertained those present to tea, and then gave a simultaneous display against 18 opponents, defeating all of them!
His opponents were:
“J. Hinchliffe” was presumably John Elliott Hinchliff.
