As reported in the Sheffield & Rotherham Independent of 21/02/1885, the visiting team was “Midland Railway Chess Club”.  This was presumably the Midland Rail Institute Chess Club, Derby.  The home team, Bradford, had something of a reputation to uphold, as a fortnight earlier they had become the first winners of the Woodhouse Cup.
