Claremont Cottage, Bradley Lane, Huddersfield, became the final residence of Channing Wood Whitman, U. S. consular agent in Huddersfield.

Bradley Lane, is not mentioned in modern street maps (some at least), and bears no street nameplate today.  It turns off New North Road between numbers 65 and 71.  The two residences on it were long ago incorporated into the numbering sequence of the odd numbers of New North Road.  Thus “Claremont Cottage, Bradley Lane” means the same as the more-prosaic “69 New North Road”.

The painted name on the gateposts is still visible, as is the number 69 on the inside face of the left post..  A modern nameplate was been added, which faithfully preserves the name while avoiding destroying the earlier lettering.
