Yorkshire Chess Association president, Dr. C. G. Addingley, presented a silver trophy for an individual lightning trophy in 1970. The inscription read as follows:
YORKSHIRE CHESS ASSOCIATION
LIGHTNING CHAMPIONSHIP
Presented by
Dr. C. G. ADDINGLEY
JAN. 1970
The trophy bore the “D & B” maker’s mark of Docker & Burn Ltd., and the 1921 Birmingham sterling silver hallmarks. The trophy was thus not of recent manufacture when presented. (The 1946 year letter is similar to that of 1921, but Docker & Burn appear not to have been producing as late as 1946.)
The winners in the first eleven years of the trophy’s life were as follows:
Discontinuation of the organisation of the competition, seems to have led to the loss of the trophy.
