Fattorini Trophy |

The Leeds Mercury Weekly Supplement of 18/02/1888 reported:
Thus the Bradford firm of Fattorini and Sons, of which Bradford chess-player Antonio Fattorini was one of the sons, presented the Fattorini Trophy (the somewhat simpler name which appears to have been adopted) for the winner of the Yorkshire Count Chess Club’s Class A individual knock-out tournament which thereafter was formally for the (amateur) chess championship of Yorkshire.
The trophy took the form, as stated above, of a set of ivory chessmen and board.
It was presented for annual competition, with the provision that it be won outright by a player winning it for a second time, not necessarily in consecutive competitions.
