Bradford Observer Challenge Trophy, the first |

Messrs. William Byles and Sons of Bradford supplied a trophy for the “minor” club competition which was instituted in 1885. The trophy was known as the Bradford Observer Challenge Trophy. According to a reference to it in a write-up of the 1891 annual meeting of the West Yorkshire Chess Association, it took the form of a salver.
