Narrative: 17) The Current Yorkshire Chess Association is Born |

From 1886 to 1895, the West Yorkshire Chess Association and the Yorkshire County Chess Club continued their complementary functions alongside each other, which officials of one organisation looking remarkably like those of the other.
The experience gained over 10 years of both organisations serving the same group of players eventually led to the realisation that the two might just as well be one. Thus in 1896 the current Yorkshire Chess Association was formed by the merger of the West Yorkshire Chess Association with the Yorkshire County Chess Club, combining responsibility for all county-wide chess organisation under one umbrella.
