The burial plot of Dr. William Ellis of Morley, in St Peter’s churchyard, measures about 12’ wide by 10’ 6” deep, and has a surrounding kerb which originally carried iron railings.

Those commemorated on the headstone are:

1) William Ellis, first son of Dr. William Ellis and first wife Ann;

2) Mary Richardson, long-serving domestic servant in the Ellis household;

3) Ann Ellis,first wife of Dr. William Ellis;

4) William Stuart Ellis, son of Dr.William Ellis and second wife Maria;

5) George Ellis, second son of Dr. William Ellis and first wife Ann;

6) Dr. William Ellis himself.
