German master Jacques Mieses, who’d be about 68 at the time, toured the north of England in early 1933.

On Monday 06/11/1933 he gave a 26-board simultaneous display at Leeds, winning 18, drawing 6 and losing 2.

On Tuesday 07/11/1933 he gave a lecture at Bradford, describing and contrasting the styles of play of Alekhine, Capablanca, Nimzovich and Flohr, showing illustrative games.

There followed a three-day trip to Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

He was expected later to visit Huddersfield.
