Yorkshire Extract of August ECF Ratings

The 1st August monthly ratings were published promptly, as ever.  What is impressive is that the results of the British Championships which ended on 30/07/2023 are included, on the basis at least of checking on Michael Adams and Jonathan Nelson who both have their “British” games included.

 

A year ago (01/08/2022) there were only 1,374 Yorkshire players (some post-Covid inactive) listed with standard-rate ratings, but now there are 1,930 (all “active”), an increase of almost 50%.  The present figures probably represent the new post-Covid normality with its blend of Covid-induced retirement and Covid-induced “new” players dragged in via the expansion of on-line chess and other considerations.
