Yorkshire Chess Association AGM, 2022

ECF Delegate’s Report

There are two ECF Council Meetings per year, the Finance Meeting in April and the AGM in October.  During the Covid epidemic, meetings have been either by Zoom or latterly in hybrid form both face-to-face and by Zoom.  Face-to-face meetings are always in London or Birmingham.

Meetings almost invariably clash with the Yorkshire league matches, so preparedness to duck out of matches is a prerequisite for the post-holder.

This year’s meetings have both been reported on the YCA website:

The 2021 AGM at http://mannchess.org.uk/YEvents/2021-10-16ECFAGM.htm

The 2022 FM at http://mannchess.org.uk/YEvents/2022-04-23ECFFinanceMeeting.htm.

Those without a political axe to grind will find little of interest in either meeting.  For most players the main item is membership fees, and these remain unchanged for 2022-23 (except for the odd minor change).

Of interest to some may be the plans to move to “rolling” annual subscriptions, meaning membership expires 12 months after when taken out rather than 31st August as at present.
