Different Policies Adopted Regarding Resumption of OTB Chess

The York Evening Chess League held its AGM on Monday 19th July, in person.  Submission of entries for the league and so on had gone out with papers for the meeting the closing date being Friday 24th July.  The plan is to start up the league again in late September.  Of course, nobody knows what the situation will be at that point, so a meeting is planned for Monday 13th September to iron out any matters arising from the state of the pandemic.

Two days later, the Executive of the Sheffield & District Chess Association met by Zoom, and decided to defer any start of over-the-board matches to January 2022 at the earliest.  Meanwhile, a further on-line team League competition, the third, is planned to start at the end of September.  Meanwhile clubs are encouraged to arrange friendly matches to test issues around things such as venues, transport to matches and player availability.
