15/04/2020 Possibility of On-Line County Finals for 2019-20
The ECF is looking at possibly organising the 2019-20 County Championships on line. The Yorkshire U-100 team has an outstanding fixture against Merseyside, and because captain Peter Cloudsdale has recently moved home and is without internet access at the moment, David Mills has agreed to “try” (the operative word) and organise the Yorkshire U-100 team for the match against Merseyside which would decide the U-100 NCCU qualifiers for the ECF stages. The vehicle for all this would be Lichess, with which some will be acquainted.
Yorkshire captains all show caution, in varying degrees, as to the viability of on-line matches. If it came to the crunch, and I were asked to participate, then I would say “No,” whereas in the normal over-the-board case it would be “Yes, if you can’t get somebody else who is eager to play.”
David is currently sounding out U-140 players regarding the prospect of attempting to play the county final stages on line. Other captains probably need to do the same, and may be doing so already.
