Yorkshire Congresses in the Pipeline

 

0) Bradford Congress

 

This did not happen, for obvious reasons.

 

1) Hull 4NCL International Congress

 

This year’s Hull Congress is scheduled to be held from Friday 22 October to Sunday 24 October 2021,

at Canham Turner Conference Centre, University of Hull, Cottingham Road, Hull, HU6 7RX (a new venue),

with three sections: Open (FIDE-rated), Under-2000 (FIDE-rated), and U-1700.

Entry fee is £30 in each section, plus, if appropriate, a pay-to-play (rating) fee of £11 (Open/U-2000 or £9 (U-1700).

The advertised prize fund is £3,000.

2) 44th Scarborough Congress

 

This year’s Scarborough Congress is scheduled to be held from Friday 29 October to Sunday 31 October 2021,

at THE OCEAN ROOM The Ocean Room, Spa Complex, South Bay, YO11 2HD (the usual venue),

with five sections: Open (FIDE-rated), Major (U-1851), Intermediate (U-1701), Minor (U-1551), Foundation (U-1351).

Entry fee, subject to late fees and on-the-day fees, as detailed on the entry form and website:

Open: £33 (or £44 for non-Gold/Platinum ECF members), £33 (or £42 for non-Silver/Gold/Platinum ECF members).

The total of advertised place prizes is £2,625, to which should be added 10 (probably) unspecified Grading Prizes (which is the term still used on the entry form).

?) 29th Doncaster Congress

 

Enquires were to be made last week regarding the availability of Hall Cross School for the weekend Friday 25th to 27th February 2022, but no feedback has yet been received.  (Just rang Jim to check, but he was apparently out, possibly volunteering at Bawtry Library – where he may even rad this!)
