28/07/2021 2021-22 County Chess
At the NCCU AGM held via Zoom on 24/07/2021, it was agreed to try to resume NCCU over-the-board county matches between 12-player teams. Entries to the new rating-based 5-section county-competition structure introduced by the ECF, necessarily provisional at this stage, were indicated as follows:
* Whether Durham and Cleveland could enter a combined team was discussed, and the county competition controller, Bryan Bainbridge is to canvas views from the counties.
All NCU county matches have to be played by the end of March 2022, so that nominations for the national (ECF) stage can be made. In the latter context, Lancashire induced they would not enter the national stage in the U2050 section due to the difficulty in raising players.
At some stage, Yorkshire will need to sort out its captains in the light of new ratings of previous captains, and other considerations.
