Yorkshire League – Guidance on Adverse Weather Conditions

YCA Competitions Controller Andrew Zigmond has re-issued guidance he first issued a few years ago, in view of the current build‑up of snow, leading to the Yorkshire league match-day on Saturday 03/03/2018 (13 matches).  The following is the text of Andrew’s e-mail.

To all Yorkshire League players and captains,

Obviously, we are going into a Yorkshire League weekend with heavy snow currently on the ground.  For that reason I would like to re-issue this guidance that I provided a few years ago.  If there are any further queries please let me know.

Travelling teams must make a judgement call on the day of the match as to whether it is safe to travel and, if they feel that conditions are too severe, they should contact the opposing captain and let them know they will not be able to play the fixture.

If a team does choose to travel in difficult conditions can I request that home teams allow some grace before starting clocks at 14.30.  If both captains feel that a reduced time limit would be appropriate this is acceptable.

I shall consider the arrangements for rescheduling fixtures once I know how many matches are affected. Rule A6 allows for home teams to claim reasonable expenses (such as venue hire) from the Association.

Andrew
