4NCL Rounds 7 & 8, First Leg
Rounds 7 & 8 in divisions
1, 2 and 3W were played on the weekend of 18th & 19th of March 2023 at
the Mercure Daventry Court Hotel and Spa. (For divisions 3E and 4,
rounds 7 & 8 are to be played on the weekend 25th & 26th
March.) All three Chessable White Rose teams were in action.
In round 7 White Rose
1 won the match with three wins and four draws, losing only one game.
White Rose 2 facing some top England juniors, propped up by a few of more
mature years, managed just one draw in an ocean of losses. (Click here to play through
Czopor ½-½ Chan on screen.) White Rose 3 did slightly
better, managing two draws but losing the other games.
Round 8 saw an
improvement in White Rose fortune. After about 4 hours’ play,
both 2nd and 3rd teams had score enough points to win their matches, and the
1st team was a point in front. That lead turned into a 3-3 close finish
with 2 games to go.
That left Chessable White
Rose 1 just in the lead in Division 1, tying on match points with
Chess.com Manx Liberty, but just ahead by half a game point. CWR 2 are
poised just above bottom place.
In Division 3, CWR 3
are currently 5th out of 12.
